Because of her claim demeanor and always having that can-do-attitude, many would never even know that little Miss Basl suffers from a severe case of scoliosis that has forced her to stay in a back brace for 20 hours a day for the last three years.
This all started while she was playing the sport that she loves, softball, in October of 2012. At only nine years old she realized something was wrong when she was at bat. After swinging for the fences as she had done numerous times before, she felt a tremendously painful pull and heard a loud pop coming from her back. From there she was immediately taken for care and a grueling three months later was diagnosed with scoliosis.
Throughout this time she has undergone endless chiropractic care, trigger point injections, physical therapy, medications and most costly of all is her four back braces (or turtle shells as she so jovially calls them). While it is difficult to watch such a intelligent, athletic, beautiful and above all else grateful child go through this, the race to cure her as been quite costly and has been burdensome for her family to even pay their day-to-day bills. For example, each of the four back braces have cost $3,350 and worst of all have sadly not provided the results needed to avoid surgery.
On June 18, 2015 Jaclynn will undergo a major surgery at Phoenix Children’s Hospital to align her back in such a way that will allow her to grow tall, even more beautiful and most importantly without pain.
This page is to assist in assuring she is given only the best of care throughout her surgery and months of her recovery period.
