Give our dogs a home

High in the Rif mountains of north Morocco live ten rescue dogs who desperately need a new home. Rocky, Cheezy, Smelly, Ruby, Linda, Nipper, Billy, Blackie, Bruno and Ffion were all taken in by the team from Barbary Macaque Awareness and Conservation and have lived happily together in the village we base our work in for some years.
Unfortunately, the dog population in the area as a whole is too large, and not everybody feels kindly disposed towards them. One of our dogs, Chocolate, recently fell victim to a poisoning incident, and we are very worried that our other dogs may lose their lives in the same way.
We are part way through the construction of a conservation and education centre on the outskirts of the nearby forest. This centre will act as a home for our dogs and, crucially, as a base for visiting experts and Moroccan veterinary authorities who will help the people and dogs of the region by dispensing rabies vaccinations, treatments for common illnesses, and performing sterilisations on dogs when people request them.
The £5000 we aim to raise with this campaign will enable us to complete a lot more work on the centre and bring us closer to our goal of moving our dogs to a safe place, as well as making the region a safer place for all the dogs that live there.
