Extreme Makeover - Mendoza Field

Tax deductible
Sgt. Brandon Mendoza died in a traffic accident involving a wrong-way driver following his work shift on May 12, 2014.  He was posthumously promoted from officer to sergeant four days after his death.

Before his untimely death, Sgt. Mendoza worked tirelessly with the community to make Guerrero Rotary Park a safe and better place for residents to enjoy.  Shortly after his death, it was announced that the baseball field at the park would be named in his honor.  A new fundraising campaign has been launched to raise $50,000 before the end of 2015 to give an “extreme makeover” to Mendoza Field.

Sgt. Mendoza loved Mesa and the neighborhoods around the Park and spent a lot of his time, on-duty and off-duty, making the area a better place for the community. What better tribute than to have the baseball field named in his honor so that his legacy and commitment to the neighborhood will forever be linked to this park.

Improvements to Mendoza Field will include upgraded dugouts and benches, bleachers, chain link fence, concrete work, turf irrigation and sod. Businesses and individuals are being encouraged to donate to the campaign.

Brandon’s dedication to this neighborhood and park will never be forgotten.  He loved and was loved by the community. What he did will forever leave a legacy for future generations to strive for.
