Tyler Charleston - #TEAMSOGB

Tax deductible
Tyler is a Special Olympics athlete in our Carmarthenshire club. She has been part of the team for four year and says that it’s one of her greatest achievements, another one being chosen as a child “celebrating success” in a partnership with the National Assembly for Wales and Merthyr County Borough Council in February 2016.

Tyler has been selected to represent Great Britain in the Alpine Skiing competition at the Special Olympics World Winter Games in Austria in 2017, one of the biggest events in the Special Olympic global calendar which will attract over 3,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities from over 110 countries.

For Tyler to take up her place, she needs to raise £2,500 to cover costs such as transport, accommodation, kit, equipment and extra training costs.

Being a Special Olympics athlete is a great source of pride for Tyler, her family and her school. And Tyler feels honoured at being selected to take part in the World Winter Games and be in the GB Team.

Tyler loves skiing and is looking forward to the competition so that she can push herself even more and hopefully “be the best” and win medals.

Thanks to her growing confidence and athletic ability, Tyler enjoys many other pursuits including sailing and being a member of Llanelli Sea Cadet Corps.

For the athletes, going to the Games is not only about participating in their chosen sport: it’s about meeting athletes from around the world, making new friends, having fun, daring, improving their health and challenging preconceptions about people who have an intellectual disability.

Please give what you can to help Lauren on her way to Austria as she is working hard in order to be the best she can in 2017 and to do her country proud.
