Teandra Uebele Roser Memorial Fund

“Just what I wanted to do, spend my Sweet 16th birthday planning my Mom’s funeral” was a quote that will forever be etched in our family’s memories. Despite the thought and prayers for a miracle, this exact thing did happen…

On Sunday, May 3rd, the lives of many were forever changed. While admitted to the hospital for abdominal pain, Teandra’s respiratory system suddenly stopped working. The medical staff worked on reviving her for over 50 minutes and while they were successful at maintaining a pulse, she was placed on full life support. It was encouraging to know that she was taking a few breaths per minute outside of the ventilator, but later discovered that the lack of blood flow to her brain had caused severe brain damage. In just a few days, our family was learning more than we wanted to about the brain, brain function, neurological testing, and respirators. While repeated neuro assessments showed no brain activity, we waited the suggested 48-72 hours and all hopes of a miracle had diminished. Even her physical body was still with us, we had our beliefs that her spirit and soul were already in limbo.

On Wednesday May 6th Teandra was declared brain dead. Her husband made the decision to remove her from life support. Being the ever "thinking of others" person that she was, she had signed her donor's card so we began on the path of learning even more medical information and about the donor process. As her husband, daughter, and we siblings listened to the organ donor team, we gained a new sense of pride that we never would have thought of for our wife, our mother, and our sister. Teandra was well known for her ability to make complete strangers smile and laugh, so it’s not surprising that even after death, she will continue to impact the lives of others!

At a young age of 36, Teandra and her husband Jeremy had just celebrated their 17 year wedding anniversary. They have two beautiful children, the now "Sweet 16" Brittney, and an 8 year-old boy. The 8 year-old is no stranger to hospitals and has had many medical issues on his own. He will most likely require some upcoming surgeries. Teandra took such good care in toting him to all his medical appointments in different cities with different specialists for his entire life, and being an advocate for this little man. This will now be a challenge for the newly classified role of single father.

Teandra was an avid fan of both her children’s sport activities, wrestling was her favorite! She wasn’t the type of parent who just dropped her kids off and picked them up either. At both practices and meets, you would always find Teandra in the stands yelling, on the side-lines, or offering encouragement cheers somewhere. She even attended the away functions, driving all over the state to support her children. Brittney has won state wrestling titles and just recently, a national title!! She credits the pushes and encouragement from her mother as a huge part of her success. Brittney is planning a career in law enforcement/emergency response technician. Allen is also surprising many with his wrestling accomplishments!

Her kids were her world, they were her social life, they were her hobbies, they were her everything. She absolutely gleamed when she spoke of her children. A mother could never be as proud of her kids as she was of hers!

Teandra’s family lived on a day-to-day simple lifestyle with no extra funds in the budget, especially to do something like planning for the unexpected; a thirty-something funeral. The fund is set up and in control by Teandra's sister and please know that 100% of all donations will go strictly toward funeral costs, tombstone purchase, medical bills, and the kid’s future. Since their lives have been turned upside-down, our families are focused on maintaining some stability so the kids can continue their sport activities and remain in their home. Our entire family is part of this fund and wow-what an awesomely bright spot in our days not only for the donations, but when we read the comments.

Please donate if you are able. But, no matter your age, have the conversations with your loved ones on their wishes. Make it known so your family is ever faced with something like we just faced, you can be more confident in your decisions.

And please – Consider organ donation, if you are considering it and just haven’t done it yet…Do so now using the link below don’t wait another day. Please leave us a comment if you have signed up because of this post, our family would love to know our tragedy has positively influenced others!
