ICOARM (International Collective Operations Aiding Refugees and Migrants ) is the collaboration of 4 international members dedicated to protect, advocate, empower and provide emergency relief to displaced refugees and migrants across the globe. Our team will strive to achieve this mission by implementing necessary humanitarian programmes focusing on human welfare, dignity, and rights.
As such, ICOARM is establishing a Transportation Service Project located in the outskirts of Athens, Greece, for the benefit of assisting asylum seekers to travel and transit between places.
From on-ground observation and discussions with various NGO's already on-ground, ICOARM is filling the gap in the range of services, or lack of services and resources rather, directed exclusively towards the transportation for asylum seekers. As a result, this has impacted their overall quality of life, and the ability of asylum seekers to proceed with their registration process, attend critical health, legal appointments, along with various other appointments.
The project supports refugees throughout all stages of their asylum application process, in addition to the transition of the humanitarian crisis from emergency response to social integration.
The service will cater to the transportation needs of the asylum seekers, providing assistance for asylum seekers including:
- Attending Relocation and Family Reunification interviews;
- Attending medical appointments;
- Attending legal appointments;
- Attending social programmes and workshops at various social centres;
- Grocery shopping (for those residing in camps far from shops or markets).
- Emergency response (such as in medical emergencies).
The service will also transport volunteers to various camps and squats around the greater Athens area, when it has the capacity to do so, i.e. when there are no bookings regarding asylum seeker affairs for a period.
