2015 -IL Jr. Miss Amazing Nationals

My name is Lea Schultz, I'm 21 and I have Down Syndrome. I was recently crowned Junior Miss Amazing Illinois. I will proudly be representing Illinois as I compete at the National Miss Amazing Pageant in Los Angeles this July! Miss Amazing is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to promote confidence and self-esteem in girls and women with disabilities by celebrating our unique abilities in a positive environment. Events at the pageant include interviews, an introduction ceremony, presentation in evening wear and a talent show. I can’t wait to sing on stage again, especially in LA!!!! While I’m in Los Angeles, I will also be involved in volunteer activities during the World Special Olympics at UCLA. In addition to the pageant, I will represent Miss Amazing in IL for the next year. I will be involved in community service projects and doing volunteer work.

I’ve always dreamed of visiting LA…in hopes of becoming famous. Winning the Junior Miss crown in Illinois has given me the chance of a lifetime! Miss Amazing is important because it gives all girls like me a chance to be a princess and feel great about ourselves. Plus, it shows that just because someone like me has a disability, doesn’t mean that I can’t make a difference in the world.
