Restoring a Piece of Mother Earth

Donation protected
Hello! My name is Samantha Herron and I would like to tell you about a wonderful place that's near and dear to my heart - Raven-Wolf Nature Sanctuary. It's 16 acres of land in Guernsey County, Ohio that has been kept primitive for the benefit of plants, trees, animals and people looking for a safe place to relax and heal by being close to Nature.

The Sanctuary has seen some disuse in recent years and some of us have come together to restore it so that it can once again be a special place for those seeking a sacred space for healing and connecting to the Earth. That takes hands to help and money.

Over the course of this first year of restoration, we have managed to get some things done - knocking back overgrown areas, painting and repairing some of the buildings and other structures, but there is still much to do to bring it back to its former self.

In the process of rebuilding one of the outhouses, we have begun to convert it to a composting system. This is ideally what we would like to do with the remaining outhouses as well.

Although we are a primitive site and would prefer to remain “off the grid”, we do recognize the value and need for some form of electricity. This is especially true for those who come to visit that have health conditions and need electricity for such things as CPAP machines. Solar panels would provide the necessary electricity to accommodate such needs. We would love to be able to install a few in the near future.

Right now, we have an old John Deere garden tractor for mowing. Although not all of the 16 acres needs to be mowed, having something larger and more rugged would help with mowing and provide other services that are being done by hand - putting gravel on the road, grading the road, hauling wood, removing stumps, etc. We’ve bought a couple chain saws and some other tools, but the fewer hands we have to do the work, the more tools are needed, especially power tools. Face it, a chain saw can do the work of several people using hand saws in a shorter period of time. For this reason, we would love to buy more chain saws, weed whackers, and other power tools for the few to do the work of the many. Of course, the tractor/mower pictured below would help immensely too!

We are sincere in wanting to be good stewards of this little piece of Mother Earth, but could really use your help to accomplish that. We would welcome and appreciate any donations that you would care to make towards the restoration of this wonderful place.
