Tj's TBI Recovery & Treatment

Donation protected
On April 20, 2014 TJ suffered a closed wound traumatic brain injury where she flew off the back of her friend’s truck and cracked her head on the pavement. That landed her in the ER and ICU that night, with all uncertain if her brain would stop bleeding and if she would survive. Miraculously, she did. The details of the accident are not as important as the results. She has a basilar skull fracture, temporal bone fracture, facial fracture, and her entire frontal lobe of her brain was severely bruised. Right now, TJ has conductive hearing loss in her left ear which will require surgery or a hearing aide to restore her hearing. She has lost her sense of smell and taste as well as some short term memory. She has trouble forming sentences, connecting the dots from point A to B and doing some simple things around the house. And while it is a miracle that she survived, she still has a long road to recovery, and with no healthcare coverage needs help in recovering.

Every year, 1.4 million people sustain a brain injury. It is the second most prevalent injury in the U. S., this means we all have come in contact with an individual suffering from a brain injury and were possibly unaware. Those who have sustained a brain injury are often over looked because the community sees their physical appearance. We say, "she look fine to me, she must be ok"; but to the contrary, although she may look fine on the outside, her memory, speech, communication, and ability to reason has been severely compromised.

So, she understands, firsthand, how in one moment a whole family can instantly be turned upside down physically, financially, and emotionally.

It is through this experience, that TJ knows people going through this difficult time need a helping hand; TJ wants to be the inspiration for others with a TBI. that Through faith, hope and love people can recovery to the best of their ability from a TBI. She will not be a victim to her injuries but she knows she cannot do it all alone. This is where you come in.

For someone who has done so much for others, we ask that you help pay it forward and help this amazing person, TJ, reach her goal of a full recovery from this TBI.

Donating any amount will help.

Thank you in advance. Your efforts, love and energy make a huge difference.
