The Sunbury American is a monthly newspaper distributed free of charge at local businesses and convenience stores.
The Sunbury American was created to give the community a voice and highlight positive aspects of Sunbury with the goal of attracting people and businesses to the downtown and increasing focus on Sunbury's community. We strive to increase awareness of important community issues, provide a central location for community information, and promote the downtown shopping district.
The Sunbury American has gained significant county-wide support since printing its first issue in April of 2014, yet is unable to reach its full potential due to time and money restraints. Run by three people who have full time jobs, the newspaper is limited. With your support, we can expand the newspaper into what it truly can be by hiring reporters, advertising salesmen and people to distribute the papers in Sunbury and across Northumberland County.
We would like to continue offering our newspaper for free so it is accessible to people of all ages and income levels. That is where you come in! We rely on advertising and donations to pay for the printing of the paper and hopefully the hiring of few staff members that will make operations run smoother and more efficiently. Those who have already read our newspaper know that this is not your typical newspaper. With a centerfold map display of Sunbury's downtown shopping district, an entire page dedicated to volunteer opportunities for members of our community who are in need, a community page with classified ads and important tidbits of information, a history page that reflects on the intruiging history of Sunbury and Northumberland County, a community event calendar with something to do in Sunbury almost every day of the month and much much more.

The Sunbury American's official website is under construction. When the site launches, The Sunbury American will have an online classified section, offer the newspaper digitally, and allow us to accept credit cards for payment of advertising services.
