The Raven Series

The Raven Series was going to be a small short film. I was an author with a few books series out and something of an obsession when it came to filmmaking. I had been a part of the Van Loan Productions team for many years and it gave me so much life to be a part of so many incredible projects. On a whim, I took a script writing course, and  one day, I sat down and wrote a script.

 

It was horrible.

 

But I learned a lot from that experience and I wrote several others until one day I wrote the first draft of "The Raven" based off my book "The Raven: Fall of the Phoenix," and sent it a few friends for an honest critique.  The response was overwhelming and I redrafted the script to follow "Flames of the Phoenix." 

 

Before I knew it, the project generated enough interest with word-of-mouth that I created a website dedicated to this single project. The Raven went from "Maybe I can film a short on my phone" to an action series with 3 episodes in post-production thanks to the efforts of a dedicated and talented team.

Working on a demanding unpaid film project proved to be a big undertaking and our team rose to the challenge with passion and enthusiasm. We all wore multiple hats, and we spent hours upon hours together collaborating on what we wanted this series to look like. Thus, we set to work and affectionately called ourselves "the Murder Crew" from the books series.

 

In every way, our team proved to be more than I could have dreamed. Even when we faced setbacks, they maintained professionalism and excitement. We learned from each other and worked together to produce creative solutions to every problem. Our collective determination brought about Episodes 1, 2 and 3.

Starting out as a no-budget independent film, The Raven Series has come a long way from that original script and The Murder Crew has become a family of artists rich in talent and skill. We're moving forward knowing more and working harder, proud of what we were able to make together. 

 

To continue filming and  in order to successfully launch our project for online consumption, we're raising funds to:
