Saving Theodore and Boston

Donation protected

Our landlord gave us 60 days to move out because he's selling the house. Things had been tight for us financially and we knew we weren't going to have the first/last/security required to move into another home that soon. Also, homes appropriate for dogs for rent either don't allow dogs or are well out of our price range. We decided to move in with some family for a little while to save up the money, but we can't bring our 3 beloved dogs.

The last thing we wanted to do was bring them to the county kill shelter. For two months they've been on various waiting lists with rescue agencies and no-kill shelters, but everyone is full. We managed to find our female a loving new forever home, but our two males we just didn't have enough time. This is our last day in our house and we were forced to bring our dogs that we've had since puppies to the county kill shelter. I was told over the phone that we could be contacted if either dog was to be placed on the euthanasia list, but once we arrived, we were told that information was wrong and they will not call to let you know they are about to kill your dog. We just need a little more time to find our babies new homes!

We are looking for donations to be able to kennel them for a couple of months so we can find them new homes or get a new dog friendly home ourselves! Anything, even just a couple of dollars, would be a tremendous help in saving the lives of Theodore and Boston! Or if you would like to adopt or foster one or both of these wonderful boys please let us know!

Theodore or "T-dore" or "dore" as he has lovingly been called his whole life is the goofiest dog you might ever meet. Loves to be talked to in a darth vadar voice through a long wrapping paper tube. Haha. He is extremely cuddly and his chunkiness makes snuggling into him so comfy. He has been my movie night foot warmer for years. This dog, is a BABY. He is so sweet and is liable to lick you to death. He's about 7yrs old. We've had him since he was a little bitty puppy. Adopted from domestic animal services (DAS). He gets nervous of things sometimes. Like getting his nails clipped. I cut it too short once and he was never the same about it. Always scared. BUT let him lick some peanut butter off of something while you clip and he's good to go. He's extremely food oriented. Will do anything for a snack. He will not let you forget to feed him! He would do well with cats and dogs. He has been in a couple of scuffles at the dog park, but nothing serious. I would recommend a home with ages 6+ or adults. The little little children make him nervous. It's their quick movements, loud noises, and banging on things. He is a dog of peace and zen and has never been exposed to a toddler, but a few times and reacted nervously. Fully house trained. No health issues. This is not the dog you take on a run with you. You'd be dragging his 80lbs because he won't run. A short leisurely stroll is about all he'd want to do. Likes to poop against a fenceline or hedge row. Likes the privacy I guess?? Big squishy couch potato! Neutered since a puppy 7yr old lab mix.

And Boston or "bossy-boy" as we like to call him, is also about 7yrs. Energetic and playful. Though he doesn't quite have the stamina he once did. And we have to make him take it easy at times because if he does something too strenuous these days he will start to limp a little. Could get along with a bigger dog, though I'd recommend slow introduction. Not good with small dogs or cats. Recommend a home with children ages 7
+ or adults. He's just never been exposed to children and can get over excited. Tennis ball fetish. Kind of a bony guy, but loves to snuggle on the couch and he wants to be so close to you I think he'd be fine with climbing right inside of someone if he could. Loves to go for walks or roam in a fenced yard. He will take off if not on a leash. Neutered since a few months old. Boston is fully house trained as well. He's touchy with his diet as some dog foods and table scraps give him diarrhea. It was trial and error for us. Neither of these dogs have bad habits like chewing. It's amazing how I can leave shoes and things laying around and they've never touched anything. Boston also loves frizbees, but needs the hard plastic ones because anything else he rips apart. This is the dog you can take on runs and bike rides. But he loves to run and roam so always on a leash!
