The Blue Line Book Project

My name is John Gabrielson. I am am author looking for some financial help in bringing to market a new book about American Policing.

This project came about in 2015 while speaking at a conference. In between session it was suggested that I write a book dealing with American Law enforcement.  I chewed on this idea for a few days deciding how to best approach this project. I decided to write a memoir, infused with history telling my story. As I began to make notes I realized my story, is every police officers story. Thus the "The Blue Line Project" was born.

Who am I? I am an 12 year veteran police officer and have worked patrol for each of the past 11 and half  years.  As a patrol officer, I bring a unique perspective to what police officers do each day. Police officers in big cities,  or rural communities face the same inherit dangers, risks, and stressors. American polcing is unlike any other profession. Being a police officer is not just a job.  I believe it is a calling. Police officers must be humble, willing to sacrifice themselves for others as a guardian. Police Officers must be courageous, and able to become a warrior in a moment’s notice. It is this relationship between guardian and warrior which makes police work unique.

I am a father, husband, and American citzen, seeking to rebuild trust  between the police and the community. I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in History from The Masters University in 1997. I am a published author, conference speaker, and founder of the "Back to the Future Conference Series". My current book, "The House United - The Fall and Resotration of Mankind" is available through Amazon and was released in August 2015. 

My diverse background and years as a police officer will make for a compelling book. You will go behind the badge and the truth of Law Enforcement will be revealed. There are many myths surrounding police and their mission. These myths, if left unchecked, lead to distrust and a misunderstanding between police and the community. I will seek to shed light on many of these myths opening a dialog. One goal of this book, is to start the healing process between those who mistrust police, and the police officer. 

The money I am raising will be used to fund the remaining parts of this project including editing, artwork, promotion, website development, and travel. However, I want to be given back to police officer’s families in need. I will be giving 15 percent of the money raised through this Go-fund-me account to Cops for Charities. This 501c3 organization supports police officer’s families. For example, there is one Austin Police Officer whose child is fighting a rare form of brain cancer. Cops for Charities has helped this family with major medical bills. It is families like these that I want to help as I give back with this book project.

This project means a lot to me because I know that a majority of police officers sacrifice to do this job. The majrity of officers have a heart to serve. It may sound cliché, but it is true , police officers serve and protect. I believe it is time, that their story, our story be told.

Most police books are about a certain case solved by a great detective, or just plain fiction. There are police text books on history, ethics, tactics, and the law. This book, "The Blue Line Project” seeks to combine all these topics while telling the story of the wife who watches her husband leave for work, not knowing if will come home.  I want to tell stories of the hero’s behind the badge. The fallen and those currently serving. This  memoir is the story of the American Police Officer.
