Summer of Science Camp

I, Dr. La Vergne Lester Thatch, am the owner and tutor of/at The Education STREaM, Inc. This summer, 2015, we are planning a Summer of Science Camp. We are in need of transportation to pick up and drop off students and take them on field trips. We are looking for a van or transportation that will hold 15 to 20 students and 2 adults.
As part of the camp experience students will plant a garden and conduct Science experiments.




Science Curriculum
1) Metamorphosis: Life Cycle of a Frog
2) Plant This! How Gardens Grow?
3) Hard as a Rock: Exploring the Rock Cycle
4) Out of this World: Traveling to Outer Space
5) Ecosystems of the Earth

Summer of Science started in 2010, when my 6 year old daughter Elke received a tadpole as a present:

Now, in 2015, I would like to share this type of teaching and learning with a larger audience of students. Elke and I refer to what we do as #backyardscience


Reading and Mathematics Curricula
- We use two online Resouces 1) Khan Academy and 2) Scootpad

What we will provide for students:
1) Subsidized tuition for the summer program to students in need
2) A van for transportation for students and for field trips
3) Hands-on-Science, which requires tools, equipment, and space to "Do Science"

How will we use the bus?

Our site is located in Valparaiso, Florida near the Eglin Air Force Base East Gate. We serve students in three school district counties, locally, Okaloosa, Walton, and Santa Rosa.

1) Pick-up and drop-off at home, for parents who cannot bring the kids to camp location.
2) For activities off campus, we need transportation.

We will use the bus to take students in our community to different sites around Northwest Florida. For example, the Biophilia in Freeport, Turkey Creek in Niceville, the local Tae Kwon Do for exercise also in Niceville, the Airport Armament museum where they house Engineers for America, the local libraries in Niceville and Valparaiso, etc. Our students live in Valparaiso, Niceville, Navarre, and Freeport Florida. Our office is located in Valparaiso, Florida.
