Originally established in 1933, Ponoka Jubilee Library has been a large part of the community ever since. It serves the Town and County of Ponoka, as well as the Community of Maskwacis; providing services to more than 21,000 people. Besides giving patrons access to the more than 25,000 items in our Library, including the newest best sellers, interesting non-fiction, wonderful stories for children, big blockbuster movies, plus newspapers and magazines, it is also part of Parkland Regional Library System, and the provincial ME system, allowing Ponoka patrons access to the physical collections of all public libraries across Alberta. Ponoka Jubilee Library also offers their patrons access to many online services, including eBooks, eAudiobooks, an online movie and music database, an online magazine database, and an online newspaper database that allows readers access to newspapers from across the world.

Besides all of the physical and electronic items that Ponoka Jubilee Library offers to their patrons, they strive hard to deliver programming for all ages and interests. This includes a regular Story Time for children ages 3-5, as well as programs for older children and adults such as wine tastings, gardening classes, health seminars, LEGO club, summer reading program, book club and much much more. Ponoka Jubilee Library aims to be a place not just to pick up a book, but to be a community hub; a place to learn, discover, and be entertained, all while realizing more information about our community and meeting the people in it.

Ponoka Jubilee Library’s newest endeavor is the Free Library Membership program. Starting January 1, 2015, anyone living in the Town or County of Ponoka or the Community of Maskwacis in entitled to a FREE LIBRARY MEMBERSHIP. So far the results have been fantastic. There has been a 18% increase in library memberships, a 15% increase in item circulation, and a huge increase in the number of people walking in the Library.

Of course by going to free library memberships, this has equated to a loss in revenue for Ponoka Jubilee Library. Membership revenue is regularly close to $12,000/year, and so now the library needs to make up that difference. If Ponoka Jubilee Library is going to be able to offer free memberships for 2016 they will have to raise those funds. This is where your donation comes in. The funds raised will help to support Ponoka Jubilee Library and their service to the community. So donate, and feel good about helping out Ponoka Jubilee Library. Thank you!
