Senior Military Veteran Needs Help

Donation protected
My name is Thomas Elliott. I'm a 80 year old, 20 year U.S. Navy Veteran (1951-1971), honorable discharge.  I am in need of funding after becoming ill. I had an Aortic Abdominal Aneurysm surgery in August 16, 2006.  I'm unable to walk, unable to care for myself independently and wheelchair bound. My family and I have fallen on financial hardtimes due to my illness.

In 2013, plumbing problems began. Stopped-up sinks, drains and toilet primarily due to old plumbing required immediate actions. In our (my fiancee and I) attempt to remedy these problems we exhausted our all of our funds including those to pay the mortgage. To make matters worst, the plumbing services we paid for only served as a temporary fix and our plumbing problems as well as the residual problems they caused to our utility bills persisted. It was almost a full year after we did what we could for our plumbing before Habitat for Humanity came to do the rest. However by the end of Habitat’s stint at our home, we were still behind on our utility payments only now with the threat of cut off, and with our utility bills nearly as high as our mortgage payment at that time, we had to make a tough decision which has left us behind on our mortgage and at the brink of foreclosure. My family has been unable to completely catch up with our financial obligations and we have exhausted all avenues of income, savings and credit to make ends meet.

On September 29, 2014, I’ve submitted an application for compensation based on unemployability. I’ve asked the Veterans Administration, to expedite my claim due to financial hardship. My family and I will be eternally grateful to you if you can assist in anyway possible. I’m desperately trying to avoid foreclosure and a homeless situation. Mortgage Lender has asked me to bring my mortgage payment current by November 01, 2014.   As of late my family and I have yet to achieve this goal.  Patricia Kelley (my fiancee) is currently seeking employment and we’re doing/have done everything within our knowledge and power to help ourselves. Unfortunately we’re unable to determine when the Veterans Administration will expedite the increase for compensation nor when Patricia’s pursuit for employment will bare fruits.
