"Test My Breasts" Citywide Campaign - DC

Donation protected
On behalf of the Natalie Williams Breast Care Foundation, I would like to invite you to be a part of our citywide "Test My Breasts" campaign.

This campaign is designed to register thousands of women of color for mammogram testing across the District of Columbia with particular interest in Wards 5, 7, and 8. Our campaign develops targeted messages that resonate in high-risk communities, and that speaks to the importance of sisterhood, healthy living, and getting tested early. In addition to our door-to-door campaign, we target local churches providing guest speaker opportunities, information tables, and sign-up sheets for women seeking to be tested.

Our goal is to raise $25,000.

REGISTRATION OPEN: FORM YOUR TEAMS TODAY!

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION

The Natalie Williams Breast Care Foundation (NWBCF), founded in January 2013, is the leading voice in the promotion of breast care awareness among women of color.

We focus specifically on the breast cancer disease and early detection, and the overall promotion of healthy breast care. Our efforts are targeted in the African American, Latino, Hispanic, African, and Caribbean communities across the globe.

The NWBCF organization is governed by an elected Board of Directors, which is comprised of survivors and supporters of breast cancer. We are supported by a medical advisory team of doctors and nurses who practice in the areas of breast surgery, oncology, radiology and healthy living – with practices at Howard University Hospital, United Medical Center, and George Washington University Hospital.

NWBCF was founded following Ms. Williams’ journey with breast cancer at the age of 41. After being diagnosed in July of 2012, she underwent a double mastectomy, chemotherapy, and radiation in an effort to combat the disease. Today, she attributes her remission to an increased awareness of the risk factors of breast cancer and her continued focused on a healthy mind, body, and spirit.

In October 2013, The Council of the District of Columbia named October 2nd “The Natalie Williams Breast Care Awareness Day for Women of Color.”
