Justin Chey's Benefit

"Justin Chey, the Des Moines middle schooler who helped hold his family together before a cancer diagnosis last year, has died, his mother said late Wednesday.

Before his illness, Justin cooked meals, prepared insulin injections for his grandfather and tended to his grandmother, who has Alzheimer's disease, while his mother worked the night shift as a school custodian.

Doctors found a cancerous tumor inside his brain after he collapsed at school in October. After being treated, he made plans to return to Hiatt Middle School, and his family thanked Iowans and others for donating thousands of dollars to mitigate his medical bills and help the Cheys. But his cancer worsened.

Justin, 13, had been moved into hospice last week and passed away at about 5 p.m Wednesday March 19th ."

Justin's family could use all of the help they can get in their time of need..
