AUGUST 31, 2017 WE DID IT!

TEAM CATS: I'M IN AWE -- WE DID IT! WE HAVE MET OUR CAMPAIGN GOAL! Thank you to everyone who donated along the way and especially those who sent in birthday donations yesterday that helped us reach the finish line -- and even a bit over! ALL DONATIONS WILL GO TO THE CAT HOUSE ON THE KINGS. They are always taking in new strays, so any money above what I owe will still go to them to help save other strays just like our cat family.  You have made my birthday wish come true.

THANK YOU! PAWS UP! TEAM CATS!

AUGUST 30, 2017 BIRTHDAY UPDATE!

Happy Birthday to me! I'm so grateful for all of my friends and folks who have sent me a birthday donation. Now we need just $67 per cat or $400 to pay off all of their lifetime care! I can see the finish line, and I'm looking forward to visiting them next time hopefully debt free! This has been one of the most challenging yet rewarding experiences of my life, and I am immensely grateful to know that it is all going to work out for my feral fur family. My heart goes out to all of the animal shelter workers, families, volunteers, and, yes, other animals trying to save their friends and families in the Harvey relief effort. I have seen some amazing footage of the GOOD in people and our animal friends. There are forces that want to divide us and keep us in chaos, but the empathy we are capable of cannot be denied. Thank you for helping this cat family not just survive but thrive. Paws up. TEAM CATS!

AUGUST 2017 UPDATE

Wow, we are EVEN CLOSER to paying off our feral cat family's lifetime care! My birthday is August 30, and in lieu of physical gifts, I'm asking for donations to pay off our cat family's lifetime care.  Some of my friends have already donated, and we now need just $87 per cat or $520 to pay off their entire lifetime care! I know we'll get there, and I'm truly grateful for each and every one of you who has taken the time to read this cat family's story and donated to keep them fed and happy in the cat sanctuary. I'm grateful for every single cent. THANK YOU! Paws up! TEAM CATS!

JULY 2017 UPDATE

Team Cats: We are SO CLOSE to paying off our cat family's lifetime care! I only need $142 per cat or $850 total to have squared my debt with The Cat House on the Kings. That means the campaign will be over, but I can continue to visit them for their entire lives at this amazing 12-acre sanctuary.

If you are able to donate for this last push of the campaign to pay off their lifetime care, I would be so grateful. It's been a long journey, and I still sometimes can't believe all that we've accomplished together. I can't afford to do this myself, but the hardest part -- getting them to safety and most of their debt paid off -- is behind us, so I know we'll find a way. At least we know that they will live a safe and free life no matter what. Thank you for all of your help and compassion.

MAY 2014 UPDATE

Thanks to you, the cats made it to the sanctuary! Let us pause and savor that sentence.

THANKS TO YOU, THE CATS MADE IT TO THE SANCTUARY!

You helped make that happen, and although I have never met some of you, my heart swells with gratitude that you exist, that you cared. Thank you.

Now that they are SAFE, we can shift our focus to their lifetime care. I have signed on the dotted line. If I do not come up with the money each month, I will be the one to face the potential consequences, which include litigation and/or expulsion of my cat family from the sanctuary. While I will do everything in my power to ensure that neither of those things ever happen, I NEED HELP!

I am one person trying to do an extraordinary thing. You all came to our rescue to get them in the door. Now I need the second wave of help to make sure they stay there! While lifetime care may seem less glamorous on the surface than the urgent intake fee, I can assure you that, each time my cat family is fed, watered, getting their poop scooped, or given any medication they made need, the lifetime care means a lot to them!

Also, The Cat House on the Kings gave us an INCREDIBLE DEAL! Not only did they cut the intake fee IN HALF so that more of your donations could go to lifetime care, but they reduced the monthly fee so we could spread the cost out over more time. That makes all of this MORE doable, MORE possible. Now, instead of $60 per cat per month, it's only $30! A mere $30 a month to feed, water, scoop the poop, and give vet care to one of my ferals. That, in turn, means instead of $360 a month for all six cats, we only need to come up with $180. WE CAN DO THAT, RIGHT?

Please help me
save this bonded family of ferals (Mom, Dad, and their Babies) by supporting their lifetime care at The Cat House on the Kings!

The background: I had gotten them all fixed and had been taking care of them living in an alley for almost a year despite growing hostility. I had a house built for them, and cruel men with axes came and hacked it apart. Then, when a cat was set on fire, and the body was left as a warning to me to stop, I knew I had to find a long-term solution for my fur family.

The Cat House on the Kings is the largest, free-roaming cat sanctuary where my family can both stay together -- and make new friends. Working with a local rescue group, The Cat Posse, we secured a reduced fee to get my kitties in the door at The Cat House.

That first hurdle was important, and I'm proud to say that we cleared it! We came up with the intake fee, my family was been approved for entry, and on May 6, 2014, we made the emotional journey with them to their new home.

The goal now is to come up with the lifetime care for each kitty: $30 per cat per month ($180) until they reach a max of $2,500 per cat -- or another $15,000. Please don't let this figure scare you off from donating. That is hardly anything for its LIFETIME CARE. And EVERY DONATION helps us get there.

I have watched this family go from being rail thin and dehydrated and starving, to growing and playing and thriving -- until certain people decided that they were the enemy. It breaks my heart that I had to relinquish responsibility for their care -- and that I won't see their little faces every day. But seeing the sanctuary myself and witnessing the amazing life ahead of them, I can be nothing but happy for them. They will not only survive -- THEY WILL THRIVE!

Why am I doing this? Why do I care? Life is all about relationships and choices. People and creatures cross our path, and we make decisions. When it comes to animals, I always say, "They choose you." This family chose me, and I chose them back. I am doing this because I have chosen to invest my time, my heart, my courage, my money, my tears, and my fight into helping them. I hope you will consider helping too.

ANY AMOUNT will help them stay in the sanctuary. ALL MONEY WILL GO TO THE CATS' LIFETIME CARE: food, shelter, veterinary care -- and toys!

If you'd like to read more about their ongoing saga, I created a Facebook page for them a while back called, what else? Team Cats!

Please help me help them. Share their story. Donate what you can. Be kind to the critters who cross your path. Paws up! TEAM CATS!
