Candiss Bryant went in for a colonoscopy on January 7th, 2015 because of severe abdominal pain at Baylor in Dallas. They found a malignant tumor in her sigmoid colon that was 6.5cm in size with 98% blockage. On January 14th she had surgery-partial colectomy with removal of sigmoid colon. They also removed several of her lymph nodes to check if the cancer had spread. The surgery was a success but unfortunatly two of her lymph nodes came back positive for cancer. She has Stage 3b Colon Cancer and will have to have chemo. This is scheduled to begin around February 14th and will be a 6 month regimen. Thankfully Candiss does have medical insurance but they will still be responsible for 20% of the cost. Total cost for her chemo with be around $98,000 which leaves their part to almost $20,000. After chemo she will have follow up care for 2 months and another colonoscopy to check the rest of her colon because the first one couldnt be completed due to blockage. She will also have to continue follow up care quarterly for 2 years because the chances of cancer coming back are greater 2 years after removal.
Candiss is only 33 years old. She is married to Kris and together they have a daughter, Madi, who is 10. Madi attends Alba Golden Elementary and is currently in the 5th grade. Madi also plays travel softball for Sneaky Cleats. With this being a difficult time for not only Candiss, but her daughter and husband too, Madi is having to take a leave from the sport that she lives for. They also have four legged children (3 English Mastiffs) that they love & adore so much!
Candiss has helped so many people and is always the first one to offer a hand. She is a very caring person who would do anything she could for anyone. Kris works for H&P as a driller. As everyone knows with oil prices plummiting the oil field workers are all afraid of losing their jobs.
Any help you could offer this special lady and her family would be greatly appreciated!!!! Candiss has been there for many of us- Now it is our turn to help her get the treatment she needs to help save her life!
