Team Bella

Meet Bella.  

Bella is an energetic 7 year old little girl who will be entering second grade in the fall.  She loves to dance and play soccer!  She is active in Girl Scouts and has a ball at camps and special events with her troop.  She is also active in her church.  She loves to read, anything pink and girly … and all animals!  She has even been known to work hard to save small creatures like baby praying mantis and other small insects.  She has a pet dog named Peluza and two pet birds named Biscuit and Cocoa.

Bella and her mom were expecting to have a fun summer!  All was going great until Bella woke up with terrible pain in her arm on Sunday, June 7.  Her mom, Isabel, thought maybe she had fallen playing with friends or hurt her arm swimming.  With obvious swelling and a lot of pain, Bella and her mom went to the Emergency Room.

What was discovered as the week unfolded was a horrible nightmare.  Bella was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma – a very rare bone cancer.  Only about 400 kids in the U.S. are diagnosed with this type of cancer each year.  How could this be true?  Bella was a healthy, active little girl.

Bella has endured many tests, surgery and the beginning of chemo in just a little over one week.  She has a long road ahead of her with many more months of vicious treatment.  Her fight has just begun.  

Her mom has not been able to work and will be limited on her time away from Bella.  Missing work, and the medical costs insurance will not cover, will cause a financial burden on Bella and her mom. Bella is going to need all the love, support and prayers she can get in the upcoming months.
