TC3 in Nicaragua 2018

We are a service-learning group from Tompkins Cortland Community College. Every January we travel to Puerto Cabezas, Nicaragua in order to learn and collaborate with our Nicaraguan partners. Our primary focus is on health and health care and our group is mostly (but not wholly!) composed of nursing students.


While we're in Nicaragua we conduct educational programs at places like the Casa Materna, a local orphanage, the hospital and other locations. We also create and run 3 pop up clinics - mostly in the surrounding, underserved, rural communities. All of our activities are done in collaboration with our Nicaraguan colleagues, who include Doctors, Nurses, Medical Students and other Health care workers.


All of our materials, including medicines for our clinics are purchased with funds contributed by the students and instructors participating in the group. We try to stretch, and extend this money as far as possible. And occasionally in the past we have been supported by some local groups.

But we always want to be able to do more. We have the skills and desire to do more - our students are incredibly creative and talented - but are limited in our funds. So here we are, asking you to help support and expand our work in Nicaragua. Donations will be used for the purchase of medical supplies and to support educational activities and programs in Puerto Cabezas.
