Nepal Disaster Relief 2015

Donation protected
Dearest friends and family,

On April 25,2015 Nepal was hit with a 7.9 magnitude earth quake.  At this moment the death toll has risen to more than 7,500, leaving more than 10,000 injured. Powerful aftershocks between Kathmandu and Everest unleashed more avalanches in the Himalayas and causing panic in the capital. There have been over 50 aftershocks recorded. One of the aftershocks, itself was a strong 6.7 magnitude quake, triggering more avalanches in the Himalayas.

Nepal, the country of never ending peace and love is in an urgent need of food, water, humanitarian aid and emergency relief. People are forced to sleep outside in the fear that another high magnitude aftershock will hit. The quake has left thousands of people homeless, scared and injured.

We will be donating every dollar received to disaster relief organizations in Nepal. The money will go towards providing the people of Nepal with shelter, food, water and hospital supplies. For every donation of 50$ or more you will receive a hand-made mala bracelet as a small token of appreciation.  We are forever grateful for your prayers, wishes and support.

Additionally, GoFundMe will be donating back its 5% fee from all donations made to campaigns within their ‘Nepal’ category to Americares.

Thank you once again from the bottom of our hearts for helping Nepal and its people. A special thank you to everyone who has already contributed to us wholeheartedly, as well as spreading the awareness. We trust that with your support and prayers Nepal will bounce back and welcome all of us with open arms.

Namaste and dhanyabad,

Hasina, Lisa and the people of Nepal

UPDATE: May 3, 2015:

** As of today, we have donated $2,000 to UNICEF Nepal. We are ecstatic to recognize that our donation was matched by Canadahelps, as well as UNICEF's corporate supporters, coming to a grand total of $6,000. As of date, ‎UNICEF has provided access to safe water to 11,552 people in Kavrepalanchok and Kathmandu districts, and reached 75,378 people with hygiene education and kit in seven of the most affected districts. UNICEF has already deployed 2,200 volunteers across 41 districts in Nepal.

** We will also be donating $1,200 CAN to a local team of volunteers consisting of social workers, disaster relief experts and doctors who are working in collaboration with Children and Youth First, Nepal to provide immediate disaster relief.

>> Going forward we will support local teams in Nepal which are solely comprised of volunteers to ensure that no administration fees are deducted. We are committed to distributing 100% of the funds we raise directly to programs that will benefit the people who need assistance the most. We are also committed to full transparency and accountability of funds raised and distributed, which we will post publicly on our FB page. We were not able to act as fast as planned, since responsible sustainable development and rebuilding requires careful planning and execution!
