Laurie's Pain In the Neck

Hello Friends:  There are many things in this world that are a "Pain In The Neck" literally or figuratively. Ten years ago I was diagnose with Graves disease, an autoimmune condition which attacks and causes the thyroid to run rampant and try to destroy itself. In case you don't know, the thyroid is a butterfly shaped gland that resides at the base of the neck and regulates everything in the body. (Four year old Laurie in the photo is indicating where her thyroid is located) With Graves disease the thyroid makes too much thyroid hormone and the body doesn't know what to do with it. This can cause tremors, heart palpatations, hair loss, muscle pain and weakness and left untreated even heart attack and stroke. When I was first diagnosed medicine put it into remission.  Then four years ago when my life partner was diagnosed with cancer the stress from caretaking caused it to come out of remission. I lost my business and source of income and went on disability.  This pays my everyday bills but nothing is left. I only have hospitalization insurance which does not cover doctor visits or treatments.  I am hoping very soon to have my thyroid removed either surgically or by radioactive iodine. I have already accumulated some medical bills and will incur more over the next couple of weeks.
