Nepal Earthquake Disaster Relief

Donation protected
As most people are already aware, Nepal was hit by a disastrous earthquake shortly before noon on Saturday April 25, 2015. The country of Nepal is still suffering from devastating aftershocks which are creating an increasing amount of damage even now -- three weeks after the original earthquake. One of those aftershocks was a 7.3 on the Richter scale. The devastation is ongoing and the people are really at the mercy of nature right now.

The local people have lost everything, some enduring serious injuries and heartache, whilst others have also lost their homes and their families.
Thus far, the death toll in Nepal has risen to a total of over 8,000 people. There are currently more than 6,538 individuals suffering from serious injuries and requiring medical attention, and tens of thousands of people are in desperate need of shelter.

The hospitals are overflowing, and medical supplies are running out. Basic necessities like food, water, and shelter are becoming increasingly unavailable, especially in the remote villages.

Myself, along with a group of fellow volunteers, spent many months in Bharatpur, Nepal last year, volunteering our time in the local healthcare system.
We were all given the pleasure of living with local families, and working alongside the community.  For all of us, this was one of the most amazing and humbling experiences of our lives, and we will never forget the kindness, appreciation and generosity extended to us by the Nepali people.

While in Nepal, we met and worked with a man named Binod Dhakal. Binod is the regional manager of an international volunteer organization in Chitwan, Nepal and he has dedicated his life to helping the people of his community and country. We hope to help him now. He is a prominent and highly respected figure in Bharatpur, with strong ties to Chitwan Medical College, the largest hospital in the greater region, as well as a large network of people dedicated to progress within Nepal.

Currently, myself and several other volunteers who have worked with Binod, are working to raise money so that we can help him distribute resources quickly to those who so desperately need our assistance right now. The money we raise will go directly to providing medical supplies for the overflow of injured and dying patients in Chitwan; to providing food, water and shelter to the people and families of the Gorkha region of Nepal, the birth place of the families which took us in and cared for us as their own during our stay in Nepal.

Thank you for any assistance you might be willing to provide.
