Help Save Karma

Donation protected
Karma is the sweetest dog I have ever met. She loves to give kisses and thinks she's a 10 pound lap dog. She loves everyone she meets whether it be grown humans, baby humans, other dogs, or cats. She is truly amazing.

Karma was time stamped to be euthanized at 8 pm on April 21, 2015 at ACCT Philly. I was fortunate enough to see an urgent Facebook post of her hiding under her bed at ACCT when I jumped on the bus without a moments hesitation to adopt her.

Upon bringing Karma home, I noticed that she had a bad wheezing cough, was regurgitating all food and water, and had diarrhea. I attributed these symptoms to her being excited that she was out of the shelter.

The next day, she was crated until I returned home from work, at which point I realized something more serious was going on. I intended on bringing her back to ACCT the next day for treatment for what I thought was a severe kennel cough. I was awoken several times that night to severe coughing fits and vomiting.

The next morning, 36 hours after bringing Karma home, I tried mercilessly to reach ACCT for help. Calls to several different departments (I called at least 15 times) and several voicemails went unanswered. When I finally reached somebody, the clinic was closed, and I decided to take matters into my own hands by rushing her to VSEC (a 24 hour emergency vet in my area).

Turns out, my instinct was right and this was more than just a bad kennel cough. The dog has severe pneumonia in both lungs with dehydration. I left VSEC having spent $942.08. What's even worse is her chest X-rays need to be repeated in two weeks and medications will have to be refilled at least 3 more times which will at least double the cost already spent. Furthermore, my other dog is starting to show kennel cough symptoms.

Since beginning the medications, Karma has not improved. She still cannot hold down and food or water, and worse, her medications that cost so much. She must be incredibly uncomfortable from the hunger and thirst alone. Her breathing sounds like a purring cat. She spends 24 hours a day dry heaving until she spits up mucous.

She needs to be hospitalized, and my other dog needs to be seen, but I'm 23-years-old, 7 months pregnant, and wait tables for a living and I'm afraid the well has run dry. I'm reaching out to all of you with the hopes and prayers that we can save Karma, as the only way to do so would be to get her hospitalized so she can receive the IV medications and fluids she so desperately needs. All I can personally do at the moment is comfort her.

Any donation amount would be incredibly appreciated, every little bit helps. Thanks so much for reading.
