Albany for Nepal Earthquake Relief

Donation protected
Apparently, it has already been over a month since we last updated here, and now almost 4 months since the ‘great shake’...thus also subsequently making it over 16 weeks since YOU our very kind donors from all over the Albany kept the life going in the affected areas. I have added updates with the latest pictures at the bottom of the page.

Nepal
got hit with a devastating 7.8 magnitude earthquake, followed by more than 100 aftershocks since April 25 early morning.

Confirmed casualties toll 8,583 till now, and 14,536 or more seriously injured, according to Nepal's National Emergency Operation Center. With many missing and unaccounted, this number will probably rise.

The United Nations estimates that more than 3 million people are in need of food assistance -- nearly half of those need it immediately. Emergency funding of $415 million is needed, the UN said. Unfortunately, the ones to suffer will be the poorest and most helpless populations in and around Kathmandu.

We are University at Albany Nepalese student/alumni, collecting fund from Albany area (but not limited to), to crowdsource funds, so that we can send it to Nepal through legitimate and credible organizations. With the funds we have raised so far, we will be providing earthquake relief materials in rural area. Distribution will be supervised by trusted volunteers in coordination with local community clubs from those areas.

UPDATE FROM NEPAL
The pictures of the Earthquake Relief distribution by our team in Nepal are below. Items were distributed for approximately 153 houses and 900 individuals in Samari-4, Taksar, Nuwakot, Nepal.

Special thanks to kind but brave volunteers Dhiren, Brijesh, Tarak’s father and also to all those who took their precious time and energy to collect, buy, transport and pack several goods. The dangerous road in pictures show how our team in Nepal risked themselves to transport those goods first hand and to extend the fund raised at UAlbany and Albany area. Without your selfless and tireless efforts, it wouldn't have been possible.

Thanks to all the generous people for your continued support in Nepal Earthquake Relief. No words can describe how grateful earthquake victims are to you all.
