Unexpected!

Donation protected
4 years ago, this month, I had a shoulder replacement surgery that should have been routine and would have me back to work in 6 weeks.  My body rejected the joint, and we tried again...and again.  After 4 surgeries and hospital stays in 6 months, I decided to stop. I was off work a total of 14 months and although to look at me you wouldn't know anything changed, I have limited range of motion in my left arm.

Fortunately, my capability to work on a computer didn't change. I found a new job  and started a working marathon that is still going on to this day. I've worked 6 days a week for the better part of 3 years. I've almost paid my medical and living debts incurred while off work and have started to see a light at the end of the tunnel. This was to be the year I hoped to slow this pace down and have a life again.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, my son and I have to move from the house we've been living in for 7 1/2 years.  Normally, moving isn't an issue- I plan it and prepare for it financially.  Due to the very sudden nature, I have nothing saved towards a move and have to be out in 6 weeks.  My family and friends are sympathetic to my situation and will be helping as they can. My need is for the last month's rent/deposit to move into a new place, and for the cost of moving.  My son and his friends will work, of course, but I will need to hire help this time.  It's the usual expense that goes into a move-clearing out, rental truck, moving in, the cleaning, etc.  My ability to lift weight/boxes and do a move-out clean in a day like I've done my whole life is no longer possible. Nothing like having the reality of your limitations slap you in the face.

I'm trying to get past the embarrassment of asking for help. I very rarely do. I prefer to do things myself, and feel the sense of accomplishment that goes with it. I raised my son from the age of 11 and we've always managed to get through any bumps in the road. Thankfully my family has always been there for me and will continue to be. However, my savings are gone from being off work for so long and short of camping in my brother's back yard, I have no fallback plan.

I am definitely open to other possibilities. We'd live in a trailer/camper if we could find space available. The biggest challenge is finding a place to go with my 4 and 10 years old rescue dogs.  I can afford to rent, I just don't have the upfront money for the deposit and the cost of the actual move.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. I hate that at this point of my life this is happening...but things could be so much worse. We're both healthy and have good jobs and we're very thankful for that.  I'm flexible and open to whatever possibilities come our way. Thank you, thank you. I promise to keep paying it forward.
