"We've Got No Beat!"

My Students: I have the privilege of working with a group of very driven and hard working students despite the lack of proper funding for the program. A motto of ours is "We do more with less, until eventually we do everything with nothing". We have to invent creative solutions to solve our problems.
     We are a lower socio-economic community. Many students live with multiple families and in apartments. They do not have many privileges but they are highly curious and competitive. The more information and opportunities they receive the harder they work. The students have accomplished so much in the last few years. We have set so many goals such as our student numbers growing in the Band. We have doubled the program in three years from 60 to 120! They perform music literature a grade level higher and with Superior ratings.
     Many of the parents are not involved due to the fact that they are working multiple jobs to keep a roof over their heads. The students and director are mostly responsible for any fundraising. This also teaches the kids good old fashioned "elbow grease" and ownership of their program. With this "sweat equity" there is more personal investment in the success of their music program.
My Project: Outdoor Digimet D4 Metronome and PA.
We are in need of a portable PA system so I can communicate outdoors to a large group of marching band students.  This system is also a rechargeable, battery-powered metronome to assist with tempo and time we use to help teach and clean the marching drill and music.  It allows us to have valuable technology in one piece of equipment we will use all year long on the field and in the classroom for concert season.  Its PA system is wireless and the metrome operates with a remote control.  The rehearsals will be able to run more efficient and smoothly.
