Help Russell Beat Cancer. For Good!

For those of you who don't know Russell, well... he's a pretty awesome guy, but here's a bit of backstory.

Nearly 19 years ago, while working construction, Russell had an accident that left him paralyzed from the waist down.  Since then, he has lead a life that many are in fact envious of. He has excelled in every adaptive sport out there, received two engineering degrees, and has been integral in the design of adaptive devices that are changing the lives of countless wheelchair users around the world.

In November 2012, Russell was diagnosed with a rare cancer, Myxoid Liposarcoma. He underwent surgery and radiation therapy around this time and was pronounced cancer free by January 2013.

The week before Thanksgiving of 2014, a scan revealed that the cancer had returned.  After weighing many options, Russ and his new wife Nicole decided it would be best for him to begin chemotherapy treatments in February of 2015. After nearly 8 weeks of treatment, it was found that the tumor had actually grown during that time.

Last week, Russell started a more advanced, and ultimately, more expensive chemotherapy treatment regimine, and will remain on it for the next 18 weeks.

Russell has always proven to be one of the most kind hearted people we know. As a member of the adaptive sports community in Nashville, Russ has never hesitated to mentor a new athlete, to take time out of his schedule to fix chairs, and to generally be an exemplary ambassador to the community.

It's now time for us to give back to our friend, teammate, and family. Even with health insurance, the costs associated with these treatments are tremendous.  Everything donated to this campaign will go directly to Russ and Nikki to be used for his growing medical bills.
