Support Arts at Burton Elementary

Dear friends, I've recently begun teaching at Burton Elementary School in Durham, NC.  I'm so gratified to be a part of a community that is so enthusiastic about the role that the Arts can play in the life of a child.  It seems as if all my travels have led me here, to know these kids, their families and the extraordinary Buton staff.  Please join with me to get this year off to a joyous and vital start by giving whatever you're able to give to support our new endeavors!  Here are some of the ways we'll use the funds that we raise: 1) Pay for the expert violin teacher from NCCU who will be working, once a week, with ten of our Burton students this year;  2) Supply our Burton Chorus and Dance Clubs with t-shirts that will show our pride and commitment to the Performing Arts at Burton;  3) Purchase Orff instruments such as xylophones and metallophones as well  as congas, shekeres, bells and double bells, to supplement the existing supply.  4) Bring in musicians, activists, storytellers and artists of all kinds who's enthusiasm might connect with and inspire the children at Burton. Every child matters.  I'm wondering how many ways I can find to communicate that to the kids at Burton this year. Your support will be a great help and will be appreciated with all my heart.  Anne
