Support the Ali Family

During the 2015-2016 school year, my son and daughter were introduced to a young boy from Burundi named Ibrahim.  My daughter, Kathleen was blessed to be placed in his class as a “future teacher” through a program at her school.  When she met Ibrahim, he only knew how to say, “Hi, my name is Ibrahim”.  Over the course of the year, Kathleen and my son, Patrick grew very close to him, and by summer, he had stolen the hearts of our family AND become fluent in English!

After our relationship with Ibrahim had grown, we connected with his whole family.  His younger brother, Kevin, is incredibly intelligent and by far the wittiest 5 year old I have ever met!  His father is still living in Burundi, but will be moving to the U.S. as soon as he can to be with his family.  His mother, Mrs. Ashura is one of the strongest, most faithful women I have ever encountered.  After being brought to the United States as a refugee through a local charity, she has been left with no resources to help her become successful in America.

Mrs. Ashura desperately wants to become fluent in English.  She has a desire to work hard and achieve good things. She knows that with more English vocabulary, she can have a better job for her children, but like any other mother would, when Mrs. Ashura was forced to decide between paying for language classes and keeping her home, she had to choose her home.  This is a decision that no one with a drive to succeed should have to make.  She was recently forced, due to financial instability to move herself and her children to a gang-ridden community in Houston.  While my family helped them in their move, our hearts were broken by their new living conditions.

Mrs. Ashura came to the United States for a better life.  She came so her beautiful children could have a good education, and so that they could sleep peacefully at night; they are worthy of at least safety and the amazing education that Spring Branch ISD has been giving them.

Our hope is that you will be as inspired as us by Ibrahim Ali’s family.  With some more English classes and temporary financial support, we are confident that the Ali family will become successful and be a model of what the American Dream is all about.

We ask for your thoughts, prayers, and financial support for this precious family.  Galatians 5:13 says, “For you are called to freedom, brothers, only do not use this freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but serve one another in love”.   We appreciate anything you can contribute to a brighter future for this beautiful family.
