The Red Paw Emergency Relief Team is an emergency services, nonprofit organization that works in conjunction with the American Red Cross, Philadelphia Fire Department, Philadelphia Office of Emergency Management and other public and private disaster relief organizations to provide emergency assistance including search & rescue, emergency transport, shelter, and veterinary care to animals involved in fires and other residential disasters.
Our mission is to provide relief and recovery for displaced pets and their people 24/7, free of charge and to ensure that ALL family members are taken care of during and after a disaster in their home.
Red Paw covers basic vet care for all of the disaster animals we help. We ensure every animal is spayed/neutered, vaccinated, treated for fleas and de-wormed. We also provide reunion kits to all of our clients that include food, supplies and flea meds to help them make a fresh start as they're recovering from a disaster. Many of our clients face financial challenges, so these basic services and supplies are free of charge as a part of our animal wellness program. Red Paw also has the opportunity to educate clients on routine pet care and resources for assistance going forward.
As a 501c3 non-profit, and a recognized animal emergency services group, Red Paw does qualify for discount pricing from many vendors for our basic vet care. We certainly can't do what we do without our partner facilities' generous discounts and low cost providers, and we thank them. However, the average cost of each Red Paw disaster animal still exceeds $100.
So What's the Plan?? We would like to place a bulk order direct from manufacturer of topical flea/tick preventative and de-wormer to further cut our wellness expenses. Taking advantage of this discount offers us substantial savings and allows Red Paw staff to treat for fleas/ticks and de-worm 3 animals for the price of 1!
It will cost Red Paw $4,000 for a large order of flea/ tick preventative and de-wormer. We're in the height of flea and tick season so it's crucial we reach our goal quickly. If you can help, please donate to our Summer Care Campaign today! Any amount helps!
