I used to think I was a good communicator, but somehow I can't communicate the urgency of providing subzero sleeping bags during this frigid weather to those who are sleeping outside. Giving up two cups of Starbucks coffee and instead making it in your warm home, might make a huge difference to the brother or sister sleeping outside this winter!
Getting half way to the goal will make someone's winter warmer. Until weather amnesty becomes a reality at the AA Shelter people will still be forced outside during the coldest months of the year. Many are sleeping outside now! Thanks for any support!
One of my worst fears came true. Several people that I know had to sleep outside in a tent without a subzero sleeping bag. Does anyone realize how cold it is? I'm only one person... I can't do it alone!
This is the type of man who know how it feels to be out in the winter...what happens on the days when he can't raise enough money to get into a hotel room. He's outside ... a subzero sleeping bag would help-- you can help!
Thank you for all of the the support over the past few days. t's going to be a long, cold winter. Quite a few people who are homeless believe that they can sleep outside even during the frigid temperatures like we just had. Many who decided they had to come in during the past few days are already back outside. A subzero sleeping bag ensures that they will be protected if the temperature drops again. Thanks again for helping and please spread the word!
An online representative has done a lot of due diligence to help me find a great bag at a super price. The rating on this bag is -20. The price is $99.00.
Donating a bag a this time would be awesome!
His email reads --
"This is a Durable , warm bag. Great price. A little less than the Zero degree bags from Marmot.
If this is the one, let me know and we can get ordered."
I would like to see this happen with the support of the community. Whether or not people decide to help me reach this goal, I know that it will happen. That's the kind of commitment I have to this endeavor. Until people began to empathize with each other, we will continue to recycle the same problems.
Hoping you will give from your heart, but if you decide not to, the work will go on!
I was overwhelmed to find a donation of $100 this morning to help towards the goal of raising enough funds to provide anyone in Washtenaw County having to sleep outdoor this winter with adequate protection.
This was a very generous donation, but every little bit helps! Please log on and do what you can to help in this endeavor.
If you have a warm bed, you don't know how blessed you are this season!
Found a site where bags are place under $100.00.
They are subzero and offer comfort in temperatures. Five donations of $20 could get one more person in a bag. Or 10 donations of $10. Do the math and help get this done!
Another bag delivered. The bag we are giving out goes down to five below zero. I chose this bag because the winter nights in Michigan are unpredictable. This is a high quality bag for the price and guards against hypothermia. Please email me if you want to know more!
Thank you, Elsie. You are so right. This should be the biggest Christmas gift on people's minds in Washtenaw County and beyond. I'm trying to spread the word. Your moving comment makes me want to donate to the site myself. As a matter of fact, I plan to next week!
For anyone who has followed me, you may know that I was "on the streets" for almost a year. I'm inside, but I'm in someone else's space. I'm glad I don't have to sleep out in the cold, but too many people do.
Nothing in my middle-class upbringing or my career in education could have prepared me for having to spend three nights sleeping outside, but I did.
After the third night, I got up determined that this is something that should never happen again to anyone.
So this campaign is to raise enough funds to provide subzero sleeping bags to any person in Washtenaw County forced to sleep outside this winter.
I thought I found a building for storage, but the location turned out to be wrong. I'm still looking. If you have a place in mind (warehouse) that you think someone may have available or would be willing to donate, please contace me ASAP!
Let me make it clear that I am still "on the streets" too. God has blessed me, however, to start my organization with the few tools that I have available to me now. I was also blessed to have a place to store my belongings until I find a home. There are too many people who are not that fortunate. Join in with me to help them have a safe, secure place store their items while they travel the tedious journey to a home. ...And thanks!
Everyday Persons without Homes carry everything they own on their backs. This includes clothing, tents, personal items. Our organization Success:Myriad wants to lighten their load. Join in and support us as we seek to find a building to put up shelves so that these individuals no longer have to worry about the security of their possessions... And thanks!!t

You have no idea how blessed you are if you are sleeping inside a warm home this winter. I want to provide subzero sleeping bags to anyone forced to sleep outside so that a little of that warmth reaches them too. Thanks!
Nothing in my middle-class upbringing would have prepared me to have to spend three nights sleeping on the ground on a cold fall night. But it happened, and after the third night, I got up determined that no person would sleep outside again without adequate warmth. It is my goal to provide anyone in Washtenaw County a subzero sleeping bag and a set of thermals to get through this winter.
