We are building an online virtual internship website to guide high school students towards careers in fields they love. It will show them what careers exist, what education is needed to enter into these careers, and give them much needed direction, motivation, and new goals to guide them through this constantly changing career and college environment. This is an area of massive need in our schools and we need your help!
The structure is a non-profit website that allows corporations in every sector and industry to post projects that high school students can browse, complete, and learn what career paths they ultimately want to follow. Corporations in any industry will be able to post an authentic industry project, outline what format they want it completed in, and explain all the details of their occupation and job description. These projects will be completed by students giving corporations fresh new ideas, and a direct avenue for recruiting talent after high school. Students (who will be kept completely anonymous of age, gender, and race for equality and safety reasons) will have the ability to browse all the corporate projects, learn what jobs exist in the world, find ones they think fit their natural abilities, complete these projects, and ultimately find out what they want to do for their careers before leaving high school.
We believe this website will be successful in several ways. Students get industry experience, find out what they are good at, what they love to do, and are helping to contribute to their own college education. Student motivation for learning will increase, as well as relevance to skills they are learning in class. Corporations get fresh new ideas which will lead to new innovations in all industries, be able to recruit students right out of high school, and have an outlet for philanthropic donations.
We are educating our students to prepare them for life in the career world yet presently there are no avenues which can scale exponentially to meet the needs of all of our students. This site will meet those needs and at the same time create massive school and industry innovation. We believe that bridging the gap between students and industry professionals will ultimately lead to new communities in areas of innovation and move students to reach their true potentials.
