St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church had its beginning in December, 1945 at 105 Sunset Avenue, San Jose, California in the home of Mr. Samuel Hodge and Mrs. Mable Hodge. They and a group of ten Christians living in the area saw a need for a Baptist church. The group met and organized a prayer band, which later became known as the Saint Paul Baptist Church. The church was incorporated on August 30, 1955.
Many years later, St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church Started a two- part rennovation in 2006. The first part of rennovation included an updated sanctuary, a new foyer, Children's Church, Nursery, and new male and female bathrooms.
What the money is for:
St. Paul’s Vision for Phase II Building Project is to have a Community Ministry approach that gives back through community service efforts by partnering with Federal, State, County, International organizations such as Village Walk Global Outreach and other non-profit agencies to provide the services below.
Such services will be included but not limited to:
CLASSROOMS:
Tutoring children in special subjects
Working with San Jose State University to obtain scholarships
College and University fairs
Scholarship Training – Financial Aid
ACT/SAT/CASHEE preparation assistance
Spiritual Ministry
Pre-marital counseling
Marital problems
Divorce and remarriage issues
Pregnancy issues ( teenage pregnancy, etc)
Family problems ( such as parents and teenagers)
Alcoholism
Drugs
Financial Counseling
Social Security issues
Department of Social Services
Social Contact Ministry
Educational Ministry
KITCHEN:
Food Service
Giving of food for needy families
Giving out food during Holidays (Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas)
Serving hot meals on Fridays
FELLOWSHIP HALL:
Vocation counseling (with EDD)
Job Fairs (how to apply)
Senior Citizen Activities and contact
PLAYGROUND:
