Stop Marine Veteran Discrimination

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Marie Delus. I’m a Community Advocate/Leader, a Humanitarian, a Marine Desert Storm/Gulf War Veteran [according to 1991 Congressional ruling], who served State-side (at Camp Lejeune) during Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm; I'm a Gun-safety Advocate and was selected as the "Grassroots Superstar - Black New Yorker" – New York Amsterdam News; August 21, 2014.

On April 11, I attended a peace/Gun-safety rally in Nashville during the NRA convention. A guy [who shall not be named], from a small business in Texas asked to take a photo with me; I agreed, and his wife, took it.

The same guy later posted the photo on Facebook with a caption "Got to meet a Porn Star in Nashville." The post itself brought about a monsoon of harassment [including racist/sexist comments/memes and threats], which unfortunately, on its own, is not very surprising. What I found most interesting is the fact that most of his brethren and supporters started to question my military and Veteran status which lead them to threaten to research and submit my military files to Stolen Valor.

It gets better (sarcasm)! On April 17, 2015, an alleged KKK Member [twitter.com/nobleknightskkk] tweeted the photo with the following caption: “#Stolenvalor Slut Last Seen Farting On %$#k”.

This experience has taught me that some NRA members, 2nd Amendment Supporters and fellow Pro-gun Military Personnel do not respect non-combat Veterans. It also taught me that being a black female Marine Veteran, who was deployed and served during the war (although State-side), doesn’t allow me the same respect as Combat-Veterans because of my desire to prevent gun-violence in America. Instead, I received racist, sexist comments on Facebook and twitter attacks from an alleged Klansman.

The guy claims his business increased by 900% after his inflammatory post. So now I’ve decided to create a GoFundMe page so that I can raise money for disabled Veterans which include: those who served overseas in the direct line of fire (Combat Vets), Veterans who were support-staff both overseas and at home, and those who are Peace-Time Veterans.

The donation will be distributed as follows:

75% of all donations will go to a Veteran's Association in memory of my Nephew, Lance Corporal Whyte – killed in Ramadi, on Iraq June 2006.

20% will go to a Minority-Owned Women’s charity in memory of my Nephew Pierre-Paul Jean-Paul Jr - murdered in Queens by a shooter, November 11, 2008.

Finally, 5% will be used to purchase a Bill-board to be displayed in Texas and promote #AllVeteransMatter.

Please donate to support Veterans, minorities and women.

Thank you, Marie Delus
