My name is Amber Gordon and Stephanie is my 16 year old daughter. This past January 2016 Stephanie was diagnosed with a rare condition called MRKH also known as Mayer-Rokitansky-Küster-Hauser syndrome.
She was born without a kidney, no uterus, no cervix and no chance of ever carrying her own children. Although the surgery we are striving for will not correct any of the before mentioned problems, this surgery will help her in correcting an important deficiency that this horrible disorder has created and will help her to lead a happy, normal and healthy sex life that she otherwise will not be able to experience in the future. As of right now, sex is not possible. Even though everything is normal on the outside, the inside is non existent. She is not only missing a uterus, cervix and kidney but also a vagina and vaginal opening.
Upon receiving the news that she had this disorder we all were devastated. We have never heard of anything like this. We didn't even know something like this was possible. She's 16 and we are just now hearing of this? Her doctors were baffled as well. It's still so very hard to process, especially as a mom, when everything gets quiet. When it gets quiet, everything is louder ( if that makes sense). It is important for me to have this surgery for her for many reasons. Most importantly so she knows this is not the end of her life, that there is help for her. That's she's beautiful inside and out. That this will not determine who she is . That what she has to offer the world is so much more than she can ever imagine . Her soul is so very bright and when it is all said and done, WE WIN not MRKH.
Through the Beautiful You MRKH foundation we have been sent in the direction of some wonderful surgeons in Atlanta, Georgia who have agreed to help us. They will be performing a surgery that will allow her to function normally and experience everything she would normally experience (sexually) as a woman in the future .
We will be using the funds we receive for surgery cost , travel to Atlanta, Georgia, hotel stay (1 week), gas, food, expenses and after care counseling .
We would be forever grateful for anything that could be given. Whether it's $2.00 or $20.00. It would be 1 step closer to our goal. With your help we can give Stephanie a happy ending with an even brighter beginning.
