Jake Rudd and Wayne Valley Boys Lacrosse are teaming up again to help give back to childhood cancer by holding their very own “No Shave November”.
Last year we raised over $6,000 with the help of so many wonderful and generous people! This year we look to surpass that number! Please pay attention to our social media accounts @staches_for_jr on instagram and @wall_lax on twitter for new ways to dontae!
Jake Rudd is a freshman at Wayne Valley High School who was diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma, in April 2016. Jake’s tumor was in his femur, preventing him from walking all this time. He underwent months of intensive chemotherapy, as well as limb salvage surgery (August 2016) which he is still recovering from. Ewing Sarcoma is a rare bone cancer usually found in children ages 10-20 years old.
To participate, start off with a clean shave on October 31st, and do not shave your face for the entire month of November and then resume your regularly scheduled shaves on December 1st. If you choose to grow a mustache or keep an existing mustache that is completely okay too! The participants will request donations to support growing their facial hair throughout the month.
All donations will be distributed to both Tackle Kids Cancer, Tomorrows Children’s Fund and Headstrong. This year our donation to Tackle Kids Cancer will be matched by Eli Manning as part of his Eli’s Challenge Campaign!! These organizations were incredibly generous and helpful to the Rudd family throughout Jake’s treatments. They are amazing organizations that help families who are faced with the unthinkable- a child who is diagnosed with cancer.
They are so happy to have the chance to give back to these incredible organizations.
