Help a champion Irish dancer go back to Regional Championships (Oireachtas/ORock/O) for the first time since becoming a mom and switching schools! I'm bringing it STRONGER THAN EVER!!
After transferring to McCafferty School of Irish Dance in 2013, just shy of 10 weeks postpartum, I've had an amazing time of building a new trust and confidence in my abilities with some of the best TC's in the Southern Region. I may not be a teenager anymore, but I feel like my dancing - technique, attitude, and material - is better than it ever has been!
OK, in all honesty, it's been a rough year financially -- rougher than we could have imagined. If you had told me in April that my little family would be living on "government cheese", Overdraft Protection and the grace of good friends for the next year, I would've broken down right there and then, but I haven't yet and I'm not going to stop pushing. If there's one thing I want to teach my daughter it's that "perseverance is the hard work you do when you're tired of doing the hard work you've already done." I'm very lucky to have an awesome teacher who has shown real confidence in my work, and I don't want her hard work and my hard-won progress this year to go wasted.
I'd love for my family to accompany me so baby Abigail could see her mom shine, but right now I'm just trying to get myself there for my team...and for my DREAM!!
I have a specific placement range in mind I'd like to hit before I get really serious about studying for my TCRG (Irish Dance teacher's certification) and, of course, the ultimate goal is to World Qualify -- for solos and teams -- but first I have to get to the O! Every little bit counts!
