Hi family, friends, and strangers.
My name is Sikara and I am a single mum to four children. Although three of my children have left home, they are still my responsibility and i try to help them where I can. I still have a 16 year old at home, who struggles with health issues including ADHD and an immune system disorder. Much of my weekly pay goes toward paying for his medication, school fees and twice weekly tae kwon do classes to assist with his co-ordination and muscle strength. He has very little muscular strength due to his poor immune system. He must eat organic foods and by the time I pay for all of my sons' needs, there is almost nothing left to put away for savings.
About 5 years ago, I started making jewellery for family and friends to give as gifts. I found I had a real talent for making unique items that were very popular with the people I gave them to, and was constantly being asked to make items for my friends' family and friends. At one stage, I had 15 requests or the one item, but unfortunately could not fulfill the order as I did not have the money to make the items. I have put a couple of my items up on instagram and receive quite a bit of attention for them. My whole life, next to my son, is jewellery: designing it, researching latest trends and asking people about the jewellery they are wearing and where they got it from. In my mind, I am already a successful business owner - all I need is the funding to get started.!
About 8 weeks ago, I applied for a scholarship in Certificate III in micro business and was successful. I finished it in 5 weeks, although we were given 10 weeks to complete the course. I do not say this to show off, only to show my dedication and tenacity. During the course, we had to complete a business plan with 1 and 2 yearly financial projections and my projections are looking fantastic.
Now all i need is $2000 to start my business. This money will pay for:
Market stall set up
Jewellery making supplies
Business name registration and permits
Electroforming machine
Business cards
Calico bags
Gift boxes
I pray there is someone out there that can help me to start my business so that i can give my son and I a better life. Everyone that donates with receive an item of jewellery as thanks.
