Friends, this is important to me. I understand that infant loss is not something that’s easy to talk about. No one even wants to think about it much less talk about it. But we have to. So many parents are navigating their grief in silence. No amount of time that they have will ever be enough. But each additional moment makes a difference. There’s ways that we can help them. Countless times I’ve wrapped my arms around a Dad as he’s weeping into the blanket of his precious babe, spoke softly and tenderly to a cherished baby that I held in my arms, speaking their name, acknowledging their existence to help a Mother or Father find the strength that they always had to do the same, I’ve comforted Mothers as they asked the questions that no one has the answers to, prayed with a Grandmother in the hallway as she’s begging for guidance and strength to help her own baby navigate the unknowns ahead, comforted nurses who were serving a family with so much strength only to fight back the tears and have her heart breaking right along with them, wrapped my arms around a Doctor who wept after a sweet baby was born silently into their hands, served alongside midwives whose hearts were simply breaking, to give the family the experience of bathing their child, changing their child and simply spending time, with their precious child, I’ve helped Grandpas who only wanted to know their grandchild, to see their precious fingers and toes and burn them into their memory. I’ve sat beside siblings as they met their baby brother or sister and helped them hold those babies safely in their arms as they spoke words of love. I have more memories of families than I can type. All of these things are so very important and each one takes time ... While the photos that I gift to families will last a lifetime, it’s simply not the same as the time that you can have your baby close to you. I’m not asking you to do any of these things. I’m asking you to donate whatever amount you can or simply share. Can you do that for me?
