SON OF A SAINT VAN
Donation protected
Transportation plays a vital role in mentoring our boys. Getting them to and from educational events is important so that they do not miss out on the amazing lessons of life. Over the last 5 years Son of a Saint has relied heavily on mentors, moms, volunteers and even staff to provide this service but now it is time for us to own our own van. Our ask is that you assist us with this effort. Without the sponsorship from a car dealership, we estimate that the 2012-2015 van will cost between $25k -$35k.
Sponsorship opportunites are available. Please email [email redacted] and visit www.sonofasaint.org

WHAT WE DO
Since 2011, We have given boys the tools they need to become productive men. We give boys hope, vision and opportunity. We are their example. We provide a secure and consistent environment for them.
Each year we select a group of boys between the ages of 10 -13 to join the existing kids in our program. The boys must be fatherless due to their father's incarceration, death or abandonment. Each boy remains a member of Son of a Saint until he is 18 and receives his college acceptance letter.
Each boys must maintain a certain GPA, complete four hours of community service a month and maintain good conduct at home, school and in our son of a saint groups.
WHY WE DO IT
Some of the biggest challenges our kids face relate to self-confidence, anger, and feeling of abandonment. The relationships the kids build with the mentors, counselors and tutors are developed over a long period of time, and provide consistent support, guidance and encouragement.
HOW WE DO IT
Behavioral Health - We partner with various mental health agencies to provide evaluations and ongoing counseling for our boys.
Recreational Access - We support our boys in their extracurricular activities by attending games. We also expose them to horse back riding fishing, yoga, music, chess and the arts. In small groups each kid participates in one of these activities weekly.
Group Mentorship – Our daylong sessions are designed to aid in the academic, personal, and overall development of our kids. Topics of mentorship sessions have included: etiquette, time management, decision-making skills, critical thinking, anger management, moral reasoning, life skills training, work ethic, leadership, civic responsibility, teamwork and integrity. A cadres of volunteer mentors attends each mentoring session.. Additionally, kids and mentors attend various events around the city - either one on one or in various groups. Events include, sports, educational trips, movies, dining, parades or volunteer opportunities. Travel – When opportunities present themselves, we travel regionally, nationally and overseas
Tutoring – We have relationships with students at various High Schools and Universities in New Orleans who provide tutoring for our boys.
Tuition Asssitance - We facilitate sponsorships allowing Son of a Saint memebers to attend tuition bases schools in the area. We currently have three boys on Catholic High School Scholarships through the Please Foundation.
TESTIMONIALS
The Son of A Saint mentors have given themselves unconditionally to every young man that participates in his program. If it was possible I would love to see every boy that is in need of love and support, to have someone to care for them like Son of a Saint cares for the young man in his program. – Dorothy (Son is 12 years old – member for 4 years)
My son has matured so much since joining Son of A Saint. The skills he has learned in the program will have a lasting impact on his entire life. Trey is no longer withdrawn, he is outgoing. I have no doubt that one day Trey will pour into another child's life the way the mentors of Son of A Saint has poured into his. They are truly all Saints! Toni – (Son is 11 years old – member for 2 years)
