Hello Everyone, thank you for reading our plea for funding!
You probably know that soccer is the world’s most popular sport, with such a global presence that the Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA) has more member countries than the UN. What you may not know is that in 1947 a British gentleman invented a table-top game, called Subbuteo, which simulates soccer in great detail. Subbuteo, now commonly referred to as “Table Soccer”, reached its peak during the 70’s and the 80’s, before taking a serious hit as a result of the growing sophistication and popularity of videogames.
Thanks to the passion of thousands of veteran players around the world and to widespread production of miniatures and accessories, Table Soccer has eventually had a comeback in the new millennium. Now this amazing game, considered by many to be a true sport (in 1992 there was even an official attempt to make it an Olympic sport!), is living a new thriving era of local, regional, national and international friendly and competitive events where players of all ages meet to share their common passion.
As in soccer, the main global event for Subbuteo is the World Cup. The United States has been invited by the Federation of International Sports Table Football, or FISTF, to participate in the next one to be held in Italy in September 2015 with a selection of 8 USA players. For Team USA this is an unbelievable opportunity to proudly represent our great country and to compete against and meet hundreds of top players from all over the world.
We now need your support to make this dream come true. We are so excited and passionate about making sure that the USA plays in the Table Soccer World Cup that we are already saving to pay for the expensive flights. We are simply asking for your kind help towards the expenses of lodging and transportation once in Italy.
