German Shepherd Medical Fund

This German Shepherd was found walking on the Tollway Service Road about to walk on to the Tollway on Tuesday, April 21.  A Good Samaritan stopped and picked him up.  He had already been hit by a car and broken his right front leg in two places.  I drove the German Shepherd to my vet where the broken leg was put in a splint.  A number of other health issues were discovered due to years of neglect.  The Humane Animal Rescue Team (HART) quickly accepted him in to their organization and got him in to see their vet.  After a complete set of x-rays and blood work was done  additional health issues were discovered.

Heartworm Positive (The heartworms were in his lungs)
Severe Dermatitis
Fistula Bleeding  (Big holes near his rectum that were deep, infected, smelled horrible and required surgery.  The Fistula was causing him more pain than the broken leg)
Enlarged Heart
Heart Murmur
Enlarged Bladder
Liver not functioning
Broken front right leg (Needed surgery to put in two metal plates and screws)
Septic in his blood
Unaltered
Covered in fleas

Due to the number of health issues and the pain he was in a decision was made to humanely put him down.  The medical bills HART incurred trying to save this German Shepherd were $1,500.  In his honor a Go Fund Me account has been setup.  We were not able to save this German Shepherd, but donations to HART in his honor will help save other abandoned, neglected, and abused dogs.  Or you can donate to the Humane Animal Rescue Team directly:
