We made out our first check...

We made out our first check today to a shelter in Colorado Springs that housed the families whose houses were lost. We cut them a $200 check for more food and we had some local children make them some cards. Can't wait to see the looks on these people's faces! :)

Update! The Mayor of Parker has emailed me and I will be meeting with him in the next few days to further our reach! Thank you for our amazingly generous first four donations, I am overwhelmed with gratitude and taken aback by how much love and support we have when we know people need it! Keep on fighting, guys.

I am starting this page to help everyone affected by the wild fires currently burning in Colorado. As I'm writing this, there are thirteen fires burning in Colorado and thousands of people affected. This money will be used to help families whose homes have been destroyed and also to show a token of our appreciation to the firefighters who are risking their lives in order to save ours. In addition to this fundraising site, I'll be setting up stands and donation centers outside local grocery stores later in July to ask for any groceries people are willing to donate to these families to help them get back on their feet. America is a country that works together in times of need such as this, do your part and help out your fellow Americans. Anything helps, $.01 is better than nothing. If you have any questions or suggestions on how to get the word out, or if you'd like to find out how you can help, please don't hesitate to email me at elj_s@comcast.net.

Bless you for taking some positive action to alleviate this terrible situation. So often people feel helpless in the face of the forces of nature and such widespread tragedy, but there is always something practical that can be done.
