Skylenn Hunt ME to WE service trip

Donation protected
My name is Skylenn Hunt. I am 15 years old, and I go to Faribault High School. Recently I have been honored to be given the opportunity of a lifetime; I am going to Tanzania, Africa to do life changing work! During my time in Tanzania each day will be a combination of exploring their cultural heritage, working on leadership skills, building new things that range from school campuses, and tree planting. Another big thing that we are going to be doing is village water walks. We are going to have the opportunity to meet local students and listen to there first hand stories about their experiences with and hope for their education. Everything we do will help remove the barriers to education in the community!

My whole life I have loved doing charity work, and it makes me beyond happy to know that I am making a positive impact on others’ lives. Currently in school I am in student council and I have been in it for the past three years. I think that Student Council has helped shape me into the person I am today with working with my fellow peers to doing community service in my town. My whole middle school career I was involved in a program called Falcons for Change and we did different service projects that helped not only our community but our fellow students. Falcons for change was one of the things that inspired me to do the work that I love to do. In the past few years I have done a lot of fundraising. My very first fundraiser was for The American Cancer Society. The thing I am known for is my lemonade stands; I sell lemonade but you get to pick your price. I also sold bracelets that I made and ended up raising $1,700. My second fundraiser was for Minnesota’s very first children’s hospice home “Crescent Cove.” I sold lemonade, Crescent Cove bracelets, cookies, and new teddy bears that were donated. I ended up fundraising $3,500! I have been recognized with awards for my accomplishments. One thing that I am very very proud of is that I have maintained a 4.0 GPA this whole school year. I also love volleyball and have been involved in it for 3 years and I love going to every single practice or game. I am excited to go to Tanzania and pursue my dream but I need your help to get there. No amount is too big and no amount is to small, every donation is very greatly appreciated. I hope to gain a lot of understanding and learn new things in my time in Africa, and I want to bring my first-hand experiences back to my hometown and make a difference. Thank you all so very much!
