Jenks Debate to Nationals

For those who don't know me, my name is Gregg Hartney and I am the speech & debate coach at Jenks High School in Oklahoma. I have 6 students who have qualified for the National Tournament being hosted by the National Forensic League/National Speech and Debate Association in June. Due to some unforseen circumstances, we are short of money to make the trip.  We seriously need some help securing the funds to make the trip.

Our fund shortage is partly a result of the hard work of our students. We did very well at our Regional Tournament in March and qualified more students to the State Tournament than expected. That cost us more in hotel rooms and transportation expenses. Then we had two teams qualify for the Tournament of Champions in Kentucky and that has been an expensive endeavor. Finally, we have 6 students going to Nationals and need help. The parents of these students have paid and paid and paid for thrips all year long. I am philosophically opposed to charging students more money simply because they are hard working and successful.

If you love the debate activity, I hope you will help us. If you are someone who debated for me over the past 40 years, I hope you will help us. If you debated for Jenks High School in the past, I hope you will help us.

Some of you already know that I am retiring at the end of this school year. Please help my students to the last NFL Nationals I will ever send teams to.
