In just 16 days, I will have a once in a lifetime opportunity to take my role as LGBTQ advocate and Jewish community leader to a whole new level.
This week on my birthday, I received the incredible news that I was selected as one of just 60 people in the world to attend Eighteen:22, the first ever think tank for emerging and established Jewish LGBTQ and ally influencers who are actively pursuing positive change and have demonstrated a profound commitment to LGBTQ Jewish life. My participation in the conference will be covered by a generous subsidy from the Shusterman Foundation, who are on the forefront of this global movement.
The problem: the acceptance process was delayed, and the non-profit I work for cannot come up with the funds for the last-minute airfare to Salzburg, Austria. That is all that is keeping me from pursuing this incredible opportunity.
For my birthday, I'm asking for a small gift of $5, $10 or $20 from each of my friends to help get me to Austria so that I can contribute to this important event and form lifelong bonds with this network of influencers. After emerging from a few very hard years, this summit will be a confluence of every cause I have worked so hard to spearhead and advocate for as I've built a new life in Philadelphia.
