Sassy Girls Rock

Nationally, 1 in 3 girls is affected by Teen Dating Violence/Intimate Partner Violence.  As part of an effort to encourage girls to be confident young women who are always spreading the dialogue about women empowerment,

W.E.S.D.A.  – The Women’s Empowerment Self Defense Academy, a comprehensive, multicultural 501(c)3 non-profit organization, has dedicated it’s mission to empowering women and children through education and self-awareness that directly impacts this disturbing statistic. 
S.A.S.S.Y Girls Rock (SGR4L), our premier program, is specifically designed for teen girls to give them the skills, tools and techniques necessary to prevent them from being a victim/survivor of or re-victimized by: Teen Dating Violence, Rape/Sexual Assault, Abuse, Sex Trafficking, Bullying, Stalking, Street violence or any other violent crime they may be confronted with. 

It is our mission to educate these S.A.S.S.Y. young girls, ages 13-24, what it means to be S.A.S.S.Y:

S: Savvy and Smart
A: Assessment, Achievement, & Avoidance 
S: Self- Awareness
S:  Sensible & Strong, Street Smart & Safe
Y: Yes I Am & Yes I Can, Why Me or Why Not Me 

These girls will understand the importance of going above and beyond to empower themselves and other girls in their neighborhoods to fight against the high statistics of Teen Dating Violence (TDV) in New York City. They will strive to prove themselves to be SASSY through their scholastic achievements and their involvement in their respective communities.  In addition, these girls will exude confidence, exemplify what it means to avoid adverse behaviors/situations, and possess a concrete sense of direction and purpose.

Your donation to our $15,000 goal will afford us the opportunity to recognize these 10-15 young girls with a Red Carpet Awards Dinner on Sunday, May 21, 2017, at Maestro's Caterers, located at 1703 Bronxdale Ave, Bronx, New York 10462.  It will be an opportunity to applaud these young women, celebrate them, and recognize them for their SASSYness!  It will also allow us to continue to impart, through education, empowerment, prevention, personal safety and awareness and self defense to our teen girls.  Thereby giving them the skills and tools necessary to make better life decisions and stay safe while doing it.   

Your donation will contribute towards assisting these young ladies to step into a brighter future.  They will have the opportunity to show the world what it truly means to be a SASSY Girl who really Rocks!  

It is our hope that with your support, we can continue touching the lives of teen girls and expand our reach so that it can be shared with many other young girls who perpetuate SASSYness in all that they do!
